Privacy & Security
Local-first architecture. Your recordings never leave your device unless you choose.
Four pillars of privacy
SeaMeet Desktop is designed around a simple principle: your data belongs to you. Every architectural decision reinforces this — from local-only storage to bring-your-own API keys.
Local Storage
Your recordings live on your machine
Every recording, transcript, and extracted artifact is stored locally on your device. Files are saved to a directory you control. Nothing is uploaded to any cloud service unless you explicitly choose to share.
BYOK — Bring Your Own Keys
You own the AI relationship
SeaMeet connects to AI services (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic) using your own API keys. Your data goes directly from your machine to the AI provider — SeaMeet never proxies, stores, or has access to your API traffic.
Offline Mode
Works without internet
Recording, flashback, and local playback work entirely offline. No internet connection required. AI features (transcription, extraction) need connectivity to reach the AI provider, but all captured data stays local regardless.
No Account Required
Free plan needs no login
Download SeaMeet, install it, and start recording. The free plan requires no account creation, no email, no sign-up. You can use every recording feature without ever connecting to SeaMeet's servers.
How your data flows
Understanding exactly where your data goes at each step.
Recording & Storage
Audio and video are captured by your OS APIs and written directly to your local filesystem. The recording never touches any server. Files are stored in your configured SeaMeet data directory (default: {path}).
AI Processing (optional)
When you request transcription or extraction, audio is sent directly from your machine to the AI provider (e.g., Google Gemini) using your own API key. SeaMeet does not proxy this traffic. Results are returned to your machine and saved locally.
Results & Artifacts
Transcripts, summaries, action items, and all other artifacts are saved as local files alongside your recordings. You can browse, copy, or delete them using your file manager. No cloud sync, no remote backup.
