SeaMeet

How It Works

Three steps. Zero setup.

01

Zoom call starts on your computer

Open Zoom and join or start a call as you normally would. No plugins, no extensions, no integrations to configure.

02

SeaMeet detects it automatically — no setup needed

SeaMeet monitors your system audio in the background. The moment a call begins, it recognizes the audio stream and prepares to record.

03

Recording starts invisibly. No bot. No notification to others.

Because SeaMeet captures audio at the system level, there is no bot joining the call, no recording indicator for other participants, and no cloud upload during the call.

What You Get

More than just recording

Invisible recording

No one in the call knows you are recording. No bot joins, no popup appears, no recording badge shows up.

AI transcription

Automatic speech-to-text powered by on-device and cloud AI models. Supports 90+ languages with speaker identification.

AI summaries

Get action items, decisions, and key points extracted automatically after every call. Never write meeting notes again.

Flashback

Forgot to hit record? Flashback saves the last 2 minutes of audio retroactively. Capture what you missed.

Local-first

Recordings stay on your device by default. No cloud upload, no third-party access, no data leaving your machine.

Three ways to do this

Three ways to record a Zoom meeting

Recommended

SeaMeet browser recorder

Open app.seameet.ai, pick the Zoom tab, hit Start. Works whether you host or attend. No download, no signup, live transcript.

Best for: Everyone who is not the host, or hosts on the free Zoom plan.

SeaMeet desktop app

Local-first recording that auto-detects Zoom calls on macOS and Windows. Better for daily use — recordings survive across sessions and sync via Sync Pro.

Best for: Frequent hosts who want unlimited length and offline capture.

Zoom Cloud Recording

Zoom's built-in feature. Requires you to be the host and on a paid Zoom plan (Pro or above). Participants see a "This meeting is being recorded" banner.

Best for: Paid Zoom hosts who want Zoom's own transcript in Zoom's dashboard.

Method 2 · SeaMeet browser recorder

How to record Zoom in your browser (no signup)

Runs in Chrome, Edge, or Safari on desktop. Free for the first 15 minutes — Sync Pro removes the cap. No download, no Zoom host permissions.

  1. 01

Open app.seameet.ai in a new browser tab

Chrome, Edge, or Safari on desktop. Firefox works too but tab-audio capture is browser-specific — see the FAQ below. No account required for the first 15 minutes.

  2. 02

Under "MY SCREEN", pick "A browser tab"

The browser will show a picker with every open tab. Choose your Zoom meeting tab. This is the option that captures both the video feed and the meeting audio.

  3. 03

Turn on "Share tab audio" in the picker

This is the toggle that decides whether the other participants' voices are captured. If you miss it, you'll get silent video. Chrome and Edge both surface it in the same picker as a checkbox.

  4. 04

Pick a transcription language (or leave on Auto-detect)

Auto-detect handles English + Mandarin, English + Japanese, and 20+ languages solo. Set an explicit language if the meeting is monolingual — accuracy is slightly higher.

  5. 05

    Click Start recording

A live transcript appears in the SeaMeet tab as the meeting continues. When the call ends, click Stop — SeaMeet keeps the recording plus transcript in your library. First 15 minutes are free; Sync Pro unlocks unlimited length.

Why SeaMeet

What SeaMeet does that Zoom Cloud Recording doesn't

  • Works on Zoom's free plan

Zoom Cloud Recording is a paid-tier feature. SeaMeet captures the audio at the browser-tab level, so the Zoom plan doesn't matter.

  • No "recording" banner for other participants

Zoom shows all attendees a visible notification when Cloud Recording is on. SeaMeet captures your own tab locally — nothing is broadcast into the Zoom room. Get explicit consent before recording anyway (see FAQ).

  • Works whether you're the host or not

Zoom Cloud Recording is only available to the host, or to co-hosts the host has explicitly granted permission. SeaMeet doesn't depend on your role in the meeting.

  • Live transcript in 20+ languages

Zoom's live transcript is English-only on most plans. SeaMeet's auto-detect handles English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, and 15+ more — including mixed-language conversations.

Common questions

Recording Zoom — questions & answers

Do I need Zoom's permission to record? +
No — SeaMeet captures at your browser tab, not through Zoom's API. You do not need host permission or a paid Zoom plan. But: local law and workplace policy may require you to inform participants before you record. Confirm you're allowed to record before you start.
Will other participants see a "recording" notification? +
No. Zoom only shows the recording banner when its own Cloud Recording is on. SeaMeet is invisible to the Zoom room — it records your tab locally. You should still get explicit consent from participants before recording anyway.
Can I record a Zoom meeting on my phone? +
Not with the browser recorder — mobile browsers don't expose the tab-capture API. For phone recording, use the SeaMeet desktop app on your computer while joining the Zoom meeting from your phone. Or install our companion recorder on the same phone that hosts the Zoom app (Android only, iOS TBD).
Does it work for Zoom breakout rooms? +
Yes — the browser tab keeps the same URL when you move into a breakout room, so SeaMeet's capture continues without interruption. The transcript records who's speaking in each room automatically.
What happens after the free 15 minutes? +
The recording continues but transcription pauses at 15 minutes for the free tier. Sync Pro ($12.99/mo annual) unlocks unlimited transcription per session, plus cloud sync, 250 GB storage, and the AI summary/agent features.
Can I get a transcript for a Zoom meeting I already recorded on Zoom? +
Yes — download the Zoom recording file, then upload it via the "Import file" flow in the SeaMeet app. You get the same transcript + AI summary as if you'd recorded it live in SeaMeet. Free tier has an import cap; Sync Pro allows 50 hr/mo.
Is it legal to record a Zoom meeting? +
It depends on where you and the other participants are. Some jurisdictions require one-party consent (you can record if you're a participant); others require all-party consent (every participant must explicitly agree). Check your local law and the policy of any workplace involved. When in doubt, ask before starting.

How SeaMeet Detects Zoom

SeaMeet detects Zoom via its desktop process and audio session. Works with both the Zoom desktop app and Zoom in your browser. Detection starts within seconds of joining a call.

Why SeaMeet for Zoom?

Cloud bots add a visible "Otter.ai has joined" or "Fireflies.ai is recording" notification that changes the dynamic of the meeting. SeaMeet records at the OS level — nobody knows.

01

Sales calls you want to review later

02
