SeaMeet

How It Works

Three steps. Zero setup.

01

Discord call starts on your computer

Open Discord and join or start a call as you normally would. No plugins, no extensions, no integrations to configure.

02

SeaMeet detects it automatically — no setup needed

SeaMeet monitors your system audio in the background. The moment a call begins, it recognizes the audio stream and prepares to record.

03

Recording starts invisibly. No bot. No notification to others.

Because SeaMeet captures audio at the system level, there is no bot joining the call, no recording indicator for other participants, and no cloud upload during the call.

What You Get

More than just recording

Invisible recording

No one in the call knows you are recording. No bot joins, no popup appears, no recording badge shows up.

AI transcription

Automatic speech-to-text powered by on-device and cloud AI models. Supports 90+ languages with speaker identification.

AI summaries

Get action items, decisions, and key points extracted automatically after every call. Never write meeting notes again.

Flashback

Forgot to hit record? Flashback saves the last 2 minutes of audio retroactively. Capture what you missed.

Local-first

Recordings stay on your device by default. No cloud upload, no third-party access, no data leaving your machine.

Three ways to do this

Three ways to record a Discord call

Recommended

SeaMeet browser recorder + Discord Web

Open discord.com in your browser, join a voice or video channel, and record the Discord tab in SeaMeet. Cleanest option for a proper transcript.

Best for: One-off recordings, browser-first users, guest server participants.

SeaMeet desktop app + Discord Desktop

SeaMeet auto-detects Discord calls at the system-audio level on macOS and Windows. Best if you use Discord Desktop or gaming voice chat daily.

Best for: Streamers, community managers, gamers recording gameplay + voice.

Recording bots (Craig, MEE6, etc.)

Third-party bots that join the voice channel as a participant and record. Requires the server owner to invite and configure them. Great for community-owned recordings; awkward for private calls.

Best for: Server owners who want per-speaker audio tracks for editing.

Method 2 · SeaMeet browser recorder

How to record Discord in your browser (no signup)

Runs in Chrome, Edge, or Safari on desktop. Free for the first 15 minutes — Sync Pro removes the cap. No download, no Discord host permissions.

  1. 01

Open discord.com in your browser and log in

Discord's web client covers voice and video calls, text channels, and screen shares. The browser recorder can capture any of it.

  2. 02

Join the voice or video channel you want to record

Discord will prompt for microphone access. Grant it. Video calls work too — the video feed renders in the Discord tab.

  3. 03

Open app.seameet.ai in a new tab

Same browser as your Discord tab. Chrome and Edge are the most reliable on macOS and Windows.

  4. 04

Pick "A browser tab" and select Discord

Tick "Share tab audio" — Discord voice calls are captured through this option. Without it, video-only.

  5. 05

    Hit Start recording

Discord's voice quality is high — SeaMeet's transcription accuracy is correspondingly good. Live transcript streams into the SeaMeet tab; recording plus summary land in your library when you stop.

Why SeaMeet

Why SeaMeet beats Discord's recording bots for one-off recordings

  • No bot to invite

Craig et al. join your voice channel as a visible participant. Every server member sees the "Craig is recording" indicator. SeaMeet is invisible to the Discord call — no bot, no permission requests.

  • Works in DMs

Recording bots need to be added to a server before they can join a voice channel. They can't join a private DM voice call. SeaMeet's tab recorder captures DMs identically to server calls.

  • Live transcript

Recording bots give you audio files (usually per-speaker tracks). Great for editing, useless for skimming. SeaMeet gives you a full transcript as the call happens.

  • AI summary + action items

What was decided in the guild meeting, who volunteered for what, when the next call is. SeaMeet writes this after the call so you don't have to re-listen.

Common questions

Recording Discord — questions & answers

Does Discord notify others when I record? +
Discord itself has no built-in recording, so there's no native notification. Third-party bots like Craig announce themselves. SeaMeet is invisible to the Discord call — the recording happens in your browser. Get consent from participants before recording anyway; it's the ethical baseline and often the legal one.
Can I record a Discord voice channel with 20+ people? +
Yes. Voice channels of any size capture cleanly — you get one audio track with speaker labels (best-effort attribution based on voice pattern). For per-speaker isolated tracks (useful for podcast editing), a recording bot is the better tool.
What about Discord DMs — can I record a private voice call? +
Yes, and this is where SeaMeet has a clear edge over recording bots. Bots can't join DMs. SeaMeet captures at your browser tab, so DMs, group DMs, and private voice channels all work identically.
Does it work with Discord's "Go Live" (screen share)? +
Yes — the entire Discord tab is captured, including any screen share happening inside it. If you want the screen share at full resolution rather than embedded in Discord's UI, capture the source tab directly instead.
Can I record gameplay + Discord voice for a streaming clip? +
Better to use the SeaMeet desktop app for that — the browser recorder can only capture one browser tab at a time. The desktop app captures Discord voice at the system-audio level alongside your game.
Do I need Nitro to record? +
No. Discord Nitro doesn't change what SeaMeet can capture. The browser recorder captures whatever the browser can play, regardless of your Discord plan.
Is it legal to record a Discord call? +
Depends on jurisdiction. Discord's Terms of Service don't prohibit recording, but recording other participants without their consent may be illegal where you or they live. One-party vs. all-party consent rules vary by state and country. Announce it at the start of the call to stay clean.

How SeaMeet Detects Discord

SeaMeet detects Discord via its desktop process and browser tab. Works with Discord desktop app, Discord in the browser, and Discord's screen share audio.

Why SeaMeet for Discord?

Discord bots exist but require server admin permissions, only work in servers (not DMs), and are often blocked by server policies. SeaMeet records at the OS level — works everywhere, no permissions needed.
