Record Whereby Calls
Automatically
Record Whereby calls in your browser — no bot in the room, no paid recording add-on.
Meeting Call
Voice Call
How It Works
Three steps. Zero setup.
Whereby call starts on your computer
Open Whereby and join or start a call as you normally would. No plugins, no extensions, no integrations to configure.
SeaMeet detects it automatically — no setup needed
SeaMeet monitors your system audio in the background. The moment a call begins, it recognizes the audio stream and prepares to record.
Recording starts invisibly. No bot. No notification to others.
Because SeaMeet captures audio at the system level, there is no bot joining the call, no recording indicator for other participants, and no cloud upload during the call.
What You Get
More than just recording
Invisible recording
No one in the call knows you are recording. No bot joins, no popup appears, no recording badge shows up.
AI transcription
Automatic speech-to-text powered by on-device and cloud AI models. Supports 90+ languages with speaker identification.
AI summaries
Get action items, decisions, and key points extracted automatically after every call. Never write meeting notes again.
Flashback
Forgot to hit record? Flashback saves the last 2 minutes of audio retroactively. Capture what you missed.
Local-first
Recordings stay on your device by default. No cloud upload, no third-party access, no data leaving your machine.

Three ways to do this
Three ways to record a Whereby room
SeaMeet browser recorder
Whereby runs entirely in the browser — that's their pitch. Open app.seameet.ai in a second tab, pick the Whereby tab, hit Start. Works on the free plan, from any seat in the room.
Best for: Free-plan users, guests, and embedded rooms on your own site.
See how →SeaMeet desktop app
Records Whereby calls at the system-audio level while you keep using the browser. Adds Flashback (retroactive capture) and recordings that survive a closed tab.
Best for: Daily Whereby hosts who want a set-and-forget recorder.
See how →Whereby's native recording
A paid-plan feature the room owner controls. Participants are informed, and the file uploads to Whereby's cloud storage integrations.
Best for: Paying room owners who want the recording inside Whereby.

How to record Whereby in your browser (no signup)
Runs in Chrome, Edge, or Safari on desktop. Free for the first 15 minutes — Sync Pro removes the cap. No download, no Whereby host permissions.
- 01
Open your Whereby room in a browser tab
whereby.com/your-room — no install needed. If the room is embedded on your own website, that tab works identically.
- 02
Open app.seameet.ai in a second tab
Same browser as the Whereby room. Chrome, Edge, or Safari on desktop; no signup for the first 15 minutes.
- 03
Pick "A browser tab" and select the Whereby tab
In the browser's share dialog, choose the Whereby tab and tick "Also share tab audio" — that's what captures the other side. Without it you get silent video.
- 04
Optionally set the transcription language
Auto-detect covers most rooms. Whereby is popular with European teams — bilingual English + German or Norwegian rooms come out cleanly with auto-detect on.
- 05
Click Start recording
The live transcript appears in the SeaMeet tab. Stop when the call ends — recording, transcript, and AI summary land in your library, ready to paste into the follow-up email.

Why SeaMeet
What SeaMeet does that Whereby's native recording doesn't
-
Works on the free plan
Whereby's recording is a paid-plan feature controlled by the room owner. SeaMeet works in any room you can open, on any plan, from any seat.
-
Local-first, not cloud-first
Whereby recordings upload to the owner's cloud storage by design. SeaMeet records your tab locally — nothing leaves your machine during the call, and the copy is yours.
-
Transcript + summary, not just a file
Native recording hands the owner a video. SeaMeet hands you a searchable transcript with speaker labels plus an AI summary with decisions and action items.
-
No dependency on the room owner
Guests and clients can't trigger Whereby's recording and never see the file. SeaMeet works whether you host the room or were just invited into it.

How SeaMeet Detects Whereby
SeaMeet records Whereby straight from the browser tab. Whereby runs entirely in the browser, so there's no app to install and no bot to admit — pick the whereby.com tab, keep tab audio on, and record.
Why SeaMeet for Whereby?
Whereby's own recording is a paid add-on that uploads to their cloud. SeaMeet records locally from the browser tab — no plan upgrade, no bot, and the file stays on your machine until you choose to share it.
Common Use Cases
Whereby rooms without the paid recording add-on
